Geoffrey Sperling

Head Designer

Geoffrey Sperling is a highly sought-after designer, educator, and clinician in the marching band and winter guard community.  As owner and Head Designer for SperlingDesigns, Geoffrey has worked with numerous marching band and winter guard programs throughout the country providing custom choreography, costume design, program coordination, and aesthetic design.

Mr. Sperling currently directs Origins Performing Arts based out of Austin, TX which fields multiple competitive indoor winter guard programs including a perennial Independent Open & World Class WGI Finalist. He serves as a member of the WGI Color Guard Steering Committee and a Task force member for the Texas Color Guard Circuit. Geoffrey has been a lead color guard choreographer for Hebron High School since 2021. 

Geoffrey’s passion is helping programs of all varieties and sizes with design and education. He believes every organization deserves the best production possible that speaks to and meets the needs of the students and directors.

    Originally from Detroit, MI, Geoffrey graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington with a Bachelor of the Arts. As a performer, Geoffrey has enjoyed time with several drum and bugle corps including The Blue Devils, The Bluecoats, The Cadets, as well as the Hawthorne Caballeros. During the winter season, he also performed as a member of Interplay, Zydeco, and the Pride of Cincinnati winter guards.

    After graduating from IU, Geoffrey moved to Texas where he currently lives. During his time in the Lone Star state Geoffrey has been an integral part of programs from El Paso to Houston to the Rio Grande Valley, having directed, designed, and taught finalists and champions in USBands, UIL, Bands of America, and Winter Guard International.

    When Geoffrey isn’t off doing pageantry he enjoys spending time at home with his two dogs Artie & Leo and escaping to National Parks to go hiking.
